Whoosh Explore Canoe Club is based on the River Stort in Hertfordshire.

We offer paddling sessions with our fleet of canoes, kayaks and paddle boards.

We paddle on rivers across the south east of England with our bespoke paddling kit which is available to book via eola.co

Whoosh Explore run canoeing and kayaking adventures throughout the year.

We offer boat hire, instructed sessions and adventures. We run paddling events from several riverside locations in Hertfordshire.

We run club trips  and white water adventures to some of the UKs best paddling venues as part of our club activities.

We regularly run adult sessions, pub paddling and sessions for groups looking for an adventure together.

We also organise white water training and paddle trips for those looking for more thrilling adventures at Lee Valley White Water Centre and white water rivers.

Adult paddling includes mid week paddling and our Moon lit paddles as well as Canoe and kayak hire.

A morning taster session is ideal to introduce your kids to paddling

Get out on one of our taster sessions. Our paddling taster sessions, events and activities are suitable for families with children. Our paddling sessions are ideal for developing skills in canoeing, kayaking or paddle boarding.

Our Canoes offer the perfect environment for parents to paddle with young kids and our kayaks allow older kids to explore independently in easy to control kayaks

Family sessions provide fun and adventure outdoors on the river. From the delivery of boats to the river, arranging paddling equipment to looking out for the safety of your family on the water we delivery a paddling experience for the whole family to enjoy.

Our canoes are great for adults and young paddlers and our kayaks are easy for paddlers over the age of nine to paddle independently , assisted by simple to use skegs so that young paddlers are in control from the start of their paddling experience.

Group Paddling

Group paddling sessions are ideal for a group of friends looking for a fun  adventure

We organise parties and paddling events for groups of friends and families and are to deliver bespoke learn to paddle as well as paddle sport development sessions. We can arrange hen and stag type paddling parties to your own requirements from a tour down river, to a weekend away – but early booking is required to get your paddle booked in.

Adventure paddling days Whoosh Explore offer opportunities to explore the River Stort in Hertfordshire through a range of Adventure paddling days. We run specialist courses as well as taster and self guided paddling sessions.

Self guided paddles Our self guided paddling sessions allow paddlers to improve paddling skills with the freedom to explore the local rivers with friends at your own pace. Our rivers and quiet backwaters offer a great opportunity to develop your paddling skills.

Our philosophy Whoosh Explore is an amateur sports club operating under the Paddleuk National Governing Body (NGB), set up in 2008 to deliver training courses and adventure education to youth groups and clubs in Bishops Stortford.

Mid week paddles offer the opportunity for a social paddle with regular group trips to different rivers.

Our Award winning Club Whoosh Explore are also an award winning club with its ground breaking environmental projects to preserve and enhance the local river for all to enjoy.

Taster Sessions

Our taster sessions are from Kecksys Farm Cambridge Road Sawbridgeworth CM219BZ. We meet at our base where we have plenty of on site parking. Paddling sessions are between Sawbridgeworth and Tednamebury locks although an extended paddle to Spellbrook is possible or beyond if find that you are enjoying the paddle and are looking to go further. A New Coffee shop on route. At Spellbrook Lock is easily within reach where you can take advantage of a great little coffee shop at our turn around point with bench seating alongside the navigation which operates from a converted horse box

Pub paddles

Paddling at Lee Valley

We paddle regularly on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings with the club over the summer. Paddling sessions run throughout the year on Wednesday evenings from 6.30 to 9.30pm with local coaches volunteering to deliver paddles ports coaching in a range of boats which are available through the club. Pyrenees Paddling

As a club we aim to get away a little further afield and trips often result in paddling at new locations in France.  Recent trips include paddles on the River Allier and  River Tarn and other easy grade paddling in the Pyrenees, with plans to head out to the alps for some summer paddling again soon.

Paddling throughout the year

Paddling through the seasons, Autumns possibly the best time to go paddling, As Summer comes towards a close people on our trips out ask us do we plan to park the boats up and sleep until next summer and our answer is always, we paddle whilst the rivers have water in them Paddling in Spring Summer Autumn and Winter from our base.

Paddling with Whoosh Explore

Whoosh Explore paddle the sections of river Stort most weeks. Whoosh Explore are an active, river paddling and environmental group of paddlers. Our mid week paddlers go out each week to a different river most weeks of the year exploring many different river locations on easy to paddle navigations and canals with some moving water and Estuary paddles included throughout the year. These peer group paddles require a general level of fitness and an ability to paddle efficiently on the river and often use this to keep kit with a paddle known as the Short on the Stort which is a peer group paddle who enjoy a regular trip to meet up, have a paddle and meet in one of the pubs in town for lunch.
