Whoosh Explore Canoe Club run trips on the River Stort on the Hertfordshire and Essex Boarder with regular trips to other rivers.
River Stort
The river Stort has a wide range of opportunities to paddle in the Hertfordshire countryside on a Navigation which remains unspoilt with nearly 300 years of history. We regularly paddle up to Bishops Stortford at the head of the navigation and Sawbridgeworth maltings on the River Stort with weekend and evening paddling sessions available over the summer months open to new members available to book online at eola.co.
Whitewater paddling from Hertford Two step weir
We offer courses and introductory taster sessions on white water and on weirs with training sessions to develop and master skills from Pub paddles to skills development in white water paddling. We are a white water club using Lee Valley Paddlesport Club / Lee Valley White Water Centre to develop greater skills as you progress as a paddler and work with several white water coaches and leaders who can assist in you developing your paddling skills.
Exploring the River Stort is great fun by canoe or kayak.
We run taster sessions and tours from Kecksys Farm Marina Sawbridgeworth CM21 9BZ
We also regularly run trips throughout the year on lots of rivers meeting up with other paddlers on our recreational paddles.

Paddling sessions with Whoosh Explore
We have a range of sessions available from Adult paddling, weekends away and trips. We recommend a taster paddle to try out paddling with the club.
All of our bookings are with Eola.co where we have a booking calendar of activities on offer with the option to book a date for activities when you are ready to paddle. Club membership is available to paddlers on request.
River Stort for Kecksys Marina. We meet on Saturday mornings and have a paddling session on the River Stort an easy to paddle stretch of river. Our taster session is a there and back paddle suitable for our families and young paddlers aimed to see if you like paddling with instructors on hand to help you to develop your paddling skills on our taster sessions.
Launching for non members of the club is possible on request via a public footpath but parking is restricted to club members and club visitors as its a private launch point/farm which the club pay an annual rent for.
Pub paddling sessions are a paddling session to one of several pubs near to us on the River Stort. We use the Three Horseshoes public house in Spellbrook as our main pub paddle which is a short walk from the river but we often head to The Port Jackson in Bishops Stortford or the Harlow Mill Beefeater pub which is near to the River. An alternative destination for a short paddle is a trip to the Shed Tea rooms/ cafe for amazing cakes and coffee in Sawbridgeworth for those looking for a great snack stop / breakfast or lunch.
