Pub Paddling Sessions

Pub paddle to Spellbrook lock

Our pub paddles are a great way to enjoy some time with family friends or for a couple of hours together.

We run regular guided paddles from our base at Kecksys upstream to Spellbrook lock and longer paddles with a pub stop for refreshments are easily possible on a longer day paddle from our base

Our Pub Paddles are pretty straightforward 3.5 hour session offering a there and back journey through Hertfordshires rural countryside with just one portage through a lock on route.

We meet up at our base at Kecksys farm Marina and working as a team get the boats on the river. We offer a choice of either single person kayaks as well as family boats suitable for two paddlers, which can be booked from our booking site on eola.co

Our short pub paddle is about 2 miles up and back from the pub and is ideal for a first paddling adventure, on route we assist you around the first boat portage which helps develop confidence at getting in and out of boats.

For those looking for a longer adventure we also offer a day’s hire which will allow experienced paddlers the opportunity to head out on a longer adventure.

The nearest pub to us to paddle to is the Three Horseshoes in Spellbrook, t6his is a country pub a short distance off the river, but as we would have to portage the boats anyway at Spellbrook Lock anyway its a short walk over the level crossing and into the beer garden.

The next place to stop for a drink downstream is the town of Sawbridgeworth and there are several riverside tea rooms and Cafes, and our choice here is the Shed tea rooms, offering excellent service on cook to order snacks and light meals as well as homemade cakes and coffee.
